There's a fake Gary Barlow and a fake Mark Owen on Twitter. I was having a look at their tweets a while ago and found myself having a proper laugh Laughing

The Gary Barlow one is specially funny

As if the real Barlow would tell that kind of things

It was hard for Fake-Mark to get used to Twitter, but he's loving it now and is tweeting all his followers one by one

Some of them are bloody excited because of that, bless them

I'm laughing at it, but please be careful you all, specially on Facebook. Some of the alleged Take That members in there are not very nice people in real life and just use their profiles to get to see your pictures Rolling Eyes

I'm sure you know what I mean.

Really? Haha! I've never had the urge to look for any twitter profiles unless I know they are real... but I think I'll have a look at these two *snorts*

Sede, it would be useful if you put that also in announcements. I cannot believe how many peoples buy them as real TT. And that after they announced on TTO that they don't have Twitter accounts or other ones.

Perhaps useful will be also an anouncement through our Babes twitter. I think especially that the teens can be fooled and i don't want to think further what can happen, like giving to such persons pics or real names / adresses. Rolling Eyes

I know Dani, but they just don't seem to care. The followers I mean. It was announced on TTO, as you say, but still they follow them and add them as friends on facebook, no matter what you tell them.

I'm going to tweet it anyway, but I don't think it'll make a big difference. Some people are too naive or they just prefer thinking they have their idols tweeting them Rolling Eyes

I know that the people can be so naive. But that can be very dangerous and it seems a lot of them don't realise that.

Lots of celebs have their account "Verified" that they are really the people they are claiming to be. And most of the celebs do verify their account to make sure people who are following them know for sure they are following the real thing...

It's on the top of the left sidebar (sample: see one of verified accounts).

So unless a celebrity account has this, I'd treat it as "fake"...

I'm following quite a few celebs and none of them has it Laughing

But I'm sure they're real cause it's stated on their official websites (Gary Go, SEB, etc.) or simply because I know it (Mike and Ben).

I supposed this "verified" costed some money, so only big celebrities are using it. But it is to be applaud as a lot of fraud is going around.

Well Mike puts information which is very easy to controll and Ben has as friends persons who the ones knowing him a little expects him to have as friends. Also no one whoud think to fake their accounts ...

Yes, if they state it on their web, it's ok Wink

But if someone is not sure, there is no confirmation on any official source, and there is no Verified in the profile, I'd treat it as fake... Smile

And that is the case of these TT account, I suppose...

Of course, you can never be sure... but noone who just want to fake someone would go through the hassle to have it "verified" and prove something that is not true... Wink

Dear Markie, you just need to post an announcement on your official website saying it's really you. Oh... right... you can't do that cause:
1. You're not the real Mark Owen.
2. Even if you were, you wouldn't update your website Laughing
